Description
When fitting a suspension lift-kit of a car with a fully dependent suspension, the longitudinal angle of inclination of the axle kingpin changes. The nominal angle of inclination of the kingpin on UAZ Patriot and Hunter is 3 degrees on cars with the old type of front axles and 4 degrees on the front axles of a new type with an open steering knuckle, after the kit is fitted, the angle will be 0 and 1 degree, respectively. To eliminate this negative consequence (it affects the controllability and directional stability of the vehicle), silent blocks with a displaced hole (castor kit) are installed. It allowes to return the angle of inclination of the king pin to factory settings.
Another option is to install a castor plate. Castor kits have the same purpose as castor plates. Castor plates are placed between the lever and the axle, thus changing the position of the axle, and accordingly the angle of inclination of the king pin.
For UAZ we offer castor plates made for 50 mm lift kits. Fitting of them requires metalwork using a cutting machine - you have to cut off part of the standard bracket for attaching the lever to the axle. Accordingly, after the castor plate is installed on the car, it is problematic to return back to standard suspension without lift, so it is not recommended to remove the lift-kit from the vehicle.
The use of castor plates allows you to use the standard silent blocks of front levers.
After fitting the castor plates, the angle of the pivots will return to the factory settings (with suspension lift 50 mm).
RIF castor pates allow to change the angle of the king pin by 3 degrees.
ATTENTION: Nice feature of RIF castor plates is that they do not require drilling additional holes in the arm brackets.
