Description
RIF automatic hubs have two modes of operation: automatic and manual. In automatic mode wheels get engaged when 4x4 mode turns on. Getting out of the car to engage or disengage the wheels is no longer necessary, it is enough to move the lever of the transmission mode selector to full drive mode.
Most of the time, automatic mode will be quite enough. But if you go on serious off-road, you’d better use manual locking – in this case hub will be “deadly” locked. To do it you will need a 19 mm wheel box.
RIF automatic hubs do not require regular maintenance. If it becomes necessary to disassemble and clean the hub mechanism, rinse the parts and apply a THIN coat of grease. A hub full of grease may stop functioning.
